History

Maggie Shipp, in June, 1911 requested E. C. Fuqua to come to Bellvue from Greeley, Colorado, immediately and preach the gospel.

A tent meeting had just been held in the area, but the preacher did not tell the people how to be saved, which left many in confusion. Fuqua sent B. A. McCollum, the song leader to preach the gospel to the people.  Fifteen where baptized, thus forming the beginning of the Church of Christ in Bellvue.

The first meetings were held in the stone schoolhouse. The members decided they needed a meeting house, but all were poor.

The members pulled together and raised $100, and borrowed $400 from H.G. Lipscomb of Nashville Tennessee. Most of the labor was donated. The total cost for the building and lot totaled $594.60. Fuqua preached for the Bellvue Church for approximately 5 years.

In the year 2011, the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ celebrated 100 years of preaching the gospel in the Bellvue area
